6th Habana-Habano cigars Symposium to be celebrated

With the main subject El Habano: historia, naturaleza y sociedad  (Havana cigar: History, essence and society) will be celebrated the 6th Habana-Habano cigars Symposium from September 15 to 18 organized by the Tobacco Museum under the City Historian Office at Rubén Martínez Villena Public Library.

 

This edition, which will be devoted to the 150th anniversary of the readings in cigar factories, will be attended by researchers, museum specialists, historians, journalists, businessmen, producers, sommeliers, bartenders and collectors from several countries, like Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico and Cuba.

 

The event is sponsored by Habanos S.A., with the participation of Internacional Cubana de Tabacos, Casa del Habano de Partagás, Cubaron, Havana Club Internacional and Cubacafé, and the support of Agencia de Viajes San Cristóbal travel agency and Habaguanex S.A. The program will also include a visit to the Tobacco Experimental Station of San Juan y Martínez, in Pinar del Río, where will take place an encounter with renown tobacco producers.

 

Likewise, and as part of the Symposium—from September 15 to 19—will be celebrated the fourth course Habanos, cultura y maridaje (Havana cigars, culture and blend), dedicated to the blending of Havana cigars with the different ways of elaborating coffee. The course will conclude with the conference by Dr. Jesús Guanche, “Etnicidad e identidad cultural en Cuba”.

 

As part of the event will be inaugurated the arts exhibit “Cedro, pinceladas y aromas” at the old seat of Partagás factory with the participation of the project SIKEREI, led by Ángel García Batle and consecrated to the creation of humidors painted by relevant Cuban artists and artisans.
