French Countertenor and Pianist to Offer Concert in Cuba

Havana.- The countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and pianist Jérôme Ducros, both from France, will perform for the first time in Cuba on April 30 during a concert in this capital, organizers announced. Titled Green, the concert scheduled at Federico García Lorca hall of the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, will include French songs on poems by Paul Verlaine and music of Gabriel Faure, Claude Debussy and Poldowski, among others.

The presentation will be part of the World Countertenors Cycle, which will have its final stage in the World Countertenors Festival, scheduled from September 30 to October 9 in Havana.

Organized by the office of maestro Leo Brouwer, the event expects this year the participation of singers from Spain, Austria, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Switzerland, United States, Poland and Cuba.

This time the musical event will be dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Manuel de Falla (1876-2016) and to the 260 anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-2016), who also wrote for countertenors.

The World Countertenors competition was first held in 2015 in the context of Human voices Festival, an initiative to exalt the greatness - always with good taste - from the most diverse sounds of the world.
