Cuban band Gente de Zona concert draws over 300 thousand people

Cienfuegos, Cuba.- At the rhythm of the famous hit Bailando, the Cuban group Gente de Zona gave a spectacular concert before more than 300 000 people at the Plaza de Actos in the city of Cienfuegos, as part of its national tour that will continue soon in Sancti Spiritus.

As a tribute to Benny Moré, symbol of Cienfuegos culture, Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom, leaders of the group, thanked the massive representation of the southern town through known songs and others that are included in their latest album Envision.

By their wide and recognized musical career, during the concert, the Provincial Directorate of Culture gave them the Roseta of the City and they also received the Shield of Cienfuegos at the hands of representatives of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power.

Prior to the concert, where they had singer Leoni Torres as a special guest, the artists exchanged with the press on current and future projects in Cuba and abroad.

We started this tour at first, and with the full support of Havana Cultura project of Havana Club and PMM, a few months ago by Camagüey, Santa Clara and Santiago de Cuba, in this second part we will also be in the city of Sancti Spiritus and we will be in Matanzas and Pinar del Rio for a third stop, Alexander, founder of the group, said.

We will be on July 14 in the Youth Awards with two nominations we have there and opening the show with a remix of the song Macarena, one of the most transcendental of Latin music, and there will also be present other Cuban artists like Jacob Forever and Chacal, he stated.

Randy Malcom announced that from July 20 they will tour Europe for about month and a half, with a dozen concerts in cities of Spain, Italy and France.

Gente de Zona has 16 years of career, and a decade ago it was impossible to see on international stages a Cuban group defending the urban musical genre and with popular recognition, and we have achieved it today, noted Randy.

The leaders of the band, winner of three Latin Grammy Awards and eight Billboard Latin Music Awards from 2014 to present time, said they felt great on this tour of Cuba and thanked the support of leaders of government and culture in the organization of each presentation.
