Several proposals in Primera Línea event

Five diverse expressions and at the same illustrative of the Cuban contemporary musical culture are the main examples in the artistic selection that will be presented at the Primera Línea forum, scheduled from September 14 to 17 in the context of the Habanarte 2016 Festival.

 

The selection committee, formed by experts from France, Spain and Cuba, announced the classification of singer songwriter Kelvis Ochoa, pianist and composer Alejandro Falcón, Habana Compas Dance Company, Rumbatá Company and the septet Turquino for an event that will show the Island musical creation potential to businessmen and international shows circuits managers specially summoned for this festival.

 

The definitive list of participants, a total of 15 soloists or groups, based in the proposals of the artistic representation agencies and promotional entities of the system of the Cuban Music Institute will be ready the next days.

 

Those selected will have each a space to present their work at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso’s upper floor.

 

Conferences and professional character workshops about questions related to cultural industries and art market realities in the field of music will also take place in this institution.     

 

The event coordinator, Antonio Martínez, said while announcing the first five classified from an initial pre-selection of 25 that “we want to show an evident indicator of the qualitative rigor, newness and range of the simple you will find in Cuba”.

 

The Primera Línea forum is part of the WOMEX series of festivals that since 1994 promotes the best talents of the world music from different latitudes.

 

However the idea, in this first call, points to the musical industry in Cuba, the organizers pretend to make Primera Línea the space where the sounds of the rest of the Caribbean countries converge.
