ART MARBELLA announces its third edition

In just two years since its debut, ART MARBELLA has positioned itself as a key event in the international art calendar. The 2017 edition will continue to be a boutique fair gathering a selection of 50 prestigious galleries from all around the world.

For the first time in 2017, ART MARBELLA will have an Advisory Board consisting of Pedro Carreras (CarrerasMugica), Carles Taché (Galería Carles Taché), María Baró (Baró Galería) and Alberto de Juan (Max Estrella).

An important initiative of the 2017 edition is the exhibit "Grandes colecciones nacionales” (Great national collections), a curated exhibit of 30 pieces from private collections never before shown in Spain.

Last year ART MARBELLA had more than 120 collectors, 47 galleries and over 12,000 art lovers coming from all corners of the globe.  A great success, which in the words of director Alejandro Zaia "proves that Marbella and the entire Costa del Sol is an attractive market for art galleries. Moreover, we are very pleased with our new Advisory Board, and the support of these prestigious international galleries which constitutes a further step up in quality.”

The list of exhibitors of ART MARBELLA 2016 included a selection of top quality galleries from Spain, Brazil, Portugal, USA, France, Italy, Argentina, Colombia, Switzerland, China, Morocco and Austria, many of them of longstanding tradition and constant presence in fairs like Miami Art Basel, Frieze New York, or ARCO Madrid.

Art on display included works by renowned artists from Spain, both historic and contemporary, such as Miki Leal, Ángela de la Cruz, Manolo Valdés, Rafael Canogar, Miquel Barceló, Jorge de Oteiza and Juan Gris, alongside great international names like Shirin Neshat, Marlon de Azambuja, Norbert Binsky, Eugene J. Martin, Liliana Porter, Peter Zimmermann and Cornelia Parker, just to name a few.

Another initiative of the last edition was the exhibit "Libro de bolsillo" (Pocket book), organised in collaboration with the Fundación Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo (Foundation of the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engraving) at Centro Cultural Cortijo Miraflores, that displayed the work of 18 emerging artists from the Malaga art scene.
