Cuba to Host Film Festival to Celebrate Francophone Culture

Havana.- The Cuban capital will host a cycle of French-speaking cinema from March 18 to 26, as part of a varied program that is being prepared today to celebrate the legacy of that culture.

According to the organizing committee, the program includes films such as The Cowboys, Domingo (Sunday), Neither Heaven nor Earth, Hope, Good Luck, Algeria and Melody.

Also on screen will be the documentary Tiga, by the director Arnold Antonin, a co-production between Haiti and France.

In recent declarations, the French ambassador to Cuba, Jean-Marie Bruno, said that the day of celebrations would also include activities related to other manifestations of art such as dance, fine arts and music.

Francophonie is an expression of an open, diverse and shared world. We are in favor of plurality, of different modes of expression and we will demonstrate it this week, he stated.

There will also be a significant presence of Canadian, Haitian, Algerian, Tunisian and French artists at the Havana World Music Festival on 23, 24, 25 and 26 of this month.
