Culture from Bonaire will liven up the 37th Caribbean Festival

Havana, Cuba.- The 37th Caribbean Festival scheduled for July 9th in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba will be dedicated to the popular culture of the island of Bonaire. 
 
The Director of the Casa del Caribe, Orlando Verges told the press on Wednesday in the eastern city that Bonaire is an island with great cultural diversity, variety that enriches the process of Caribbean identity and that is why this year’s edition will be dedicated to this region.
 
He added that this year a larger participation of national groups with cultural traditions from different parts of the archipelago will be participating and close to 400 artists from a dozen countries represented by groups of dances, theater and music including the delegation from the guest nation.
 
Verges pointed out that Bonaire will be presence at the Festival in spaces like the El Caribe International Colloquium that Unites Us with a panel dedicated to its history and culture.
 
Evelyn Betancourt Anthony, Interim Governor of Bonaire expressed that it is an honor to participate in the festival and highlighted the historic ties and cultural similarities between both nations.
 
Bonaire, small island located north of Venezuela with a status of special municipality of The Netherlands stands out for its live and dynamic culture.  The delegation will be made up of 150 people among them artists and other guests.
 
The program of the Caribbean Festival also includes the traditional Desfile de la Serpiente (Snake Rally), workshop on popular religions, the inauguration of an art exhibition by Alberto Lescay and a tribute to the Slave Rebelliousness in the Loma del Cimarron Monument Complex in the town of El Cobre among other activities.
