Latin America in Agenda of Cuban Children´s Company La Colmenita

Panama.- Mexico, Puerto Rico and El Salvador are part of the international agenda for rest of 2017 of the Cuban children''s theater company La Colmenita, which will give today its latest performances in this capital.

Its director, Carlos Alberto Cremata, told Prensa Latina that the company expects to perform in the Mexican city of Acapulco, Puerto Rico, where 'the group have never been before', he said, and El Salvador in October.

He stated that this Central American country has 27 similar companies in an equal amount of departments, a work La Colmenita has also developed in nine Venezuelan states, where they travel frequently to interact with 21 similar groups working there.

'Tim', as his little bees affectionately call Cremata, recalled that 'we always start with theater to gradually pave the way for the incursion of music, an expression that at first becomes more complex and difficult.'

One of the objectives of the company's performances here is to retake the founding of La Colmenita in Panama, mainly with children from El Chorrillo and San Miguelito neighborhoods, he recalled.

He noted that previously, between 2010 and 2013, a similar company made up of children from vulnerable communities to social problems was opened as the one we intend to found now.

Children of schools from Colon, Veraguas, Herrera and other provinces of the country enjoy the performances taking place until today at the Anita Villalaz Theater, located in the Casco Antiguo (Old Quarter) of Panama City, as part of a plan by First Lady, Lorena Castillo.

Invited by President Juan Carlos Varela -who will meet them today- and the National Institute of Culture, La Colmenita will also perform on Friday at the Leonidas Pinzon Professional and Technical Institute in the district of Penonome, in Cocle.
