Picasso. On the Beach

Produced in collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris, this exhibition focuses on one of Peggy Guggenheim's favorite works of art, depicting a major outdoor theme of Picasso's œuvre: the beach.

The exhibition gathers an exceptional selection of ten drawings, three paintings and a sculpture, made by Picasso between February and December 1937. Its focal point is his On the Beach (La Baignade), which for the first time will be displayed next to its preparatory sketch, executed on the same day and now housed in the Musée national Picasso-Paris.

Picasso. On the Beach is a part of the Picasso-Méditerranée initiative, an international cultural event in which 60 cultural institutions have come together to offer a journey across the Mediterranean to the places that inspired Picasso, thus strengthening the ties between all the shores that his career touched.
