The 2025 edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the second under Director Bridget Finn, closed with exceptional momentum and renewed international engagement. Featuring 283 galleries from 43 countries, including 48 first-time participants, this year’s fair drew more than 80,000 visitors across VIP and public days, reaffirming its role as the leading platform for Modern and contemporary art in the Americas.
Collectors, curators, and representatives from over 240 museums and foundations attended, underscoring the fair’s influence as a destination for institutional discovery. Galleries reported strong activity across market segments, with key placements of works by Ruth Asawa, Sam Gilliam, Alice Neel, Andy Warhol, Martin Wong, and important rediscoveries and emerging voices.
The sixth edition of Meridians, curated by Yasmil Raymond, explored the theme The Shape of Time, presenting 19 ambitious large-scale works that expanded this year’s narrative around the Americas. Notable presentations ranged from Kye Christensen-Knowles’ monumental mural to Silva Rivas’ immersive video installation Buzzing.
A major highlight was the successful launch of Zero 10, Art Basel’s new global initiative centered on digital-era art. Curated by Eli Scheinman, the sector brought together leading studios and artists working in generative and hybrid digital forms. Beeple Studios’ sold-out editions and XCOPY’s Coin Laundry, claimed over 2.3 million times, marked milestones for the growing digital ecosystem.
Art Basel’s Conversations program saw record attendance, with sessions dedicated to the intersections of art, sport, technology, and Web3 culture. Festivities peaked at the inaugural Art Basel Awards Night, hosted at the Frank Gehry–designed New World Center, where Ibrahim Mahama, Nairy Baghramian, and Cecilia Vicuña were among the first Gold Award recipients.
The City of Miami Beach continued its Legacy Purchase Program, acquiring Modulations – Sequence XXIX by Peruvian artist Ximena Garrido-Lecca for its public art collection. The French-focused Étant donnés Prize recognized Kelly Sinnapah Mary and James Cohan Gallery.
Educational initiatives also played a central role, including the UBS-supported School Group Program and the Rosa de la Cruz Student Participation Program, which welcomed DASH students to the fair.
As this milestone edition closes, Art Basel prepares for its 2026 shows in Qatar, Hong Kong, Basel, Paris, and Miami Beach.
