Calleja/Hoppek, Stories of Two People for an Impossible End … and Other Magrittian Realities

Rafael Pérez Hernando Gallery proposes – within the framework of a3bandas platform that tries to put on the map the work carried out by galleries, curators and artists in the contemporary art sector – an exhibition by artists Javier Calleja and Boris Hoppek, which shows different approaches on the conceptual value of images. The parody of a reality that has been reconstructed with pieces of true/unreal stories. Analogies and associations invite viewers for a free reading, taking the place of stereotypes and embracing the Magrittian ambivalence: the work does not hide visible or invisible elements. The artists take over the gallery space, and art goes beyond conventional borders. Behind the icon, the reflection on a multiple, truthful and mysterious reality. The show is set to be opened on Saturday April 5 (11 - 21 h.) along all the galleries that participate in a3bandas.
