Paco de Lucía subway station to have a great mural with a guitarist’s portrait

Madrid. The new Paco de Lucía subway station in Madrid to be opened soon at the end of the 9 line, where it will connect to a new station of Cercanías de Renfe, which will have inside a 300 square meters mural with a Paco de Lucia’s colored portrait made by two Spanish urban artists who are worldwide well-known. They are Okuda y Rosh333.

In statements to Europa Press Televisión, Okuda, one of these young artists who has been working along with Roshh in other works in different cities such as Nueva York, Tokio and Río de Janeiro, he has stated that this one has a special meaning to him since the mural will permanently keep in the subway station and also it has been very motivating to work with a character like Paco de Lucía.

“To me, it is very special since the graffiti started at the New York meter and now it keeps in a permanent way, and also it is a very motivating character,” he has noted about the work titled “Entre dos universos” related to the guitarist’s theme called “Entre dos universos”, with which they worked more than a week, 13 hours a day and, of which he is in charge of the color part, specifically the geometric figures and bright colors.

On his part, Rosh333, who is in charge of the universe of curve, sinuous lines, and pastel colors, he has highlighted that they have intend to represent “the icon and figure of Paco de Lucia beyond his music” and they told that the most gratifying thing has been that the guitarist’s daughter Lucía Sánchez, “saw the look of her father” in the work.

This work is within the performances of the Linea 0 project, a type of “imaginary line”, with which the Community of Madrid hopes the urban art get close to the population. This have been told by Madrid Street Art Project spokeswoman Diana Prieto who has pointed out that other similar actions have been carried out in subways stations like Plaza de España, Argüelles and Legazpi.

“At last, we have made it! It has not been easy and we hope to continue. This project has been well accepted in general. The subway is a daily space that belong to all of us and that it had been a neutral issue. The fact of having the opportunity to enoy the art in this kind of space it is really motivating”, he stressed.
