Cuban Band Los Van Van to Perform in Several U.S. Cities

The Cuban music portal announced on Monday that the popular orchestra Los Van Van will start on Friday, July 7, a tour of several U.S. cities.

 

The famous band will perform in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Miami, among other cities where an audience that prefers its dance rhythms awaits for the Cuban musicians.

 

Los Van Van was founded in 1969 by bassist Juan Formell, who died on May 1, 2014. It has not only won the admiration of its people but also that of audiences in Europe, Latin America and North America, where it has achieved unparalleled success in both the public and critics.

 

The orchestra is currently directed by Samuell Formell, son of the group's founder,  and will tour the U.S. territory with its new CD entitled La Fantasia (Fantasy), which includes 14 pieces.

 

In 2000 it won the Grammy Award in the category of Salsa, with its album LLego Van Van.
