New space for visual arts to open in Havana

By: Adalys Pérez

Under the name Caja negra (Black box) will open a new room in Havana’s Visual Arts Development Center (CDAV) as a space for artistic expressions of audiovisual media like cinema, television and video-creation, and those create a relation among art, science and technology.

As reported by specialists of this institution, the cycles scheduled to take place here will allow assessing the link between the evolution of art and technological development, which has resulted in hybrid, capable works that also respond to the evolution of aesthetic taste in contemporaneity.

In that way, the new space will depend on the necessary study and promotion of these unique proposals from a unifying perspective in line with the artistic practices, where genres and expressions of the audiovisual universe are juxtaposed.

Caja negra will open next December 17 at 5pm with Haciendo memorias, a sample of videos by Lazaro Saavedra.
