Magic of Gandalf and his Island Temperament in Havana

British actor Ian McKellen, well-known for his character of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, enjoys today Havana, because he has an island temperament. He said so during a talk at the residence of the British embassy in Havana, and recalled that, as he was born in a place of the British Isles, likes being surrounded by sea.

People filled the building yesterday after knowing about the talk, whose entrance was free, most of them were young people, movie and theater artists, and performing arts students, among others.

Cinema has always caused me great fear, I consider it the greatest art expression of the 20th century, because there is only an audience: camera, and it is not human, he said.

McKellen talked of his preference for theater, although doing cinema is something wonderful, allows him working with friends and entertain people.

An Oscar nominee twice and winner of the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor for the miniseries Rasputin, the 76 years-old British actor discovers these days the "magic" of Havana.
