The Mirror and its Neighbour

The three artists measure space and locate the line from A to B as a physical object, much more than a one-dimensional visualisation. A line determines place and time. It is the shortest connection between two positions. The line can be connecting, but it can also create distance.

In the last months we experienced lines as distance keepers - they determined the physical distance between people. The line as a tool to prevent contagion. In Plato's line parable, the entire cognisable reality is compared to a vertical line. The line is divided into four unequal sections, which stand for four modes of cognition and the objects assigned to them.

There is a hierarchical order between them. The modes of cognition are ordered according to their reliability, the objects of cognition according to their rank. The line connects the sensually perceptible things and the spiritual world. The preconditionless is the precondition for everything else.
