Art Basel announces ‘OVR: Miami Beach’

Art Basel announces ‘OVR: Miami Beach’ and plans for Miami Art Week 2020

Live online with VIP preview days from December 2 through December 4, and running from December 4 to December 6, ‘OVR: Miami Beach’ will feature galleries accepted to the 2020 edition of the show and will be accompanied by a program of online events, including talks and gallery walk-throughs. Art Basel will further amplify the cultural offerings of museums, foundations, non-profits, and galleries whose activities will comprise Miami Art Week 2020.

Like Art Basel's in-person fairs, ‘OVR: Miami Beach’ will be comprised of five sectors: Galleries, featuring leading galleries presenting works by artists ranging from young talents to 20th century masters; Edition, including exceptional prints and editioned works; Nova, featuring new works created in the last three years; Positions, dedicated to emerging artists; and Survey, showcasing works created before 2000. The fee to participate in Galleries and Edition to present ten works at the same time will be CHF 6,000, while the fee to participate in Nova, Positions, and Survey presenting six works by up to three artists will be CHF 3,000.

‘OVR: Miami Beach’ will be accompanied by a robust calendar of online events hosted on artbasel.com, including a series of online Conversations. Many of South Florida’s cultural institutions will be hosting exhibitions and programming for the local community at this time. In its effort to support these initiatives, Art Basel will present content from leading local museums and galleries, Miami’s renowned private collections, and other cultural organizations that traditionally present some of their most important exhibitions and programming during the annual Miami Art Week. Additionally, Art Basel will amplify Miami Design District’s activation, which will utilize the District’s historic Moore Building and the open-air neighborhood, and will include a presentation by Design Miami, temporary exhibitions by international galleries who regularly take part in Art Basel, as well as further programming by partnering institutions.

Noah Horowitz, Director Americas, Art Basel commented: ‘As with our in-person shows, OVR: Miami Beach will bring together our global network of collectors and patrons, allowing our galleries to leverage one of the most highly anticipated moments in the art world calendar to present exceptional works by artists from the Americas and across the globe. We look forward to using our digital platform to amplify the week-long celebration of art and culture taking place each December in Miami and to supporting our partners, galleries, and art institutions in the South Florida community.’
