Emma Kunz Cosmos. A Visionary in Dialogue with Contemporary Art

Researcher, healer and artist, Emma Kunz (1892 – 1963) was born into humble conditions in the Canton of Aargau. She never had any artistic training but, at an early age, she became aware of her special clairvoyant and radiaesthetic abilities. From 1938 onwards, she began her geometrical drawings with the support of a pendulum. By 1963, she produced some 500 drawings on graph paper, which she used as a tool for her healing activity.

15 international artists engage in a dialogue with a selection of 60 of Emma Kunz' drawings, including numerous unknown ones, while many of their works have been created especially for the exhibition.

Emma Kunz Cosmos will be accompanied by an edition (Galiciadis Athene. Spiral 47, 2021) and a comprehensive publication (Scheidegger & Spiess, Zürich, D/E), contextualizing the extended subject area as well as the exhibited works. Introductory essays by Yasmin Afschar (Curator) and Lars Bang Larsen (Art Historian) address the history of the reception of her work and esotericism as a phenomenon in contemporary art.
