New Portuguese Contemporary Art Show 2014Est Art Fair Takes Up the Slack Left by Arte Lisbon

2014 Est Art Fair, the brand-new Portuguese contemporary art show that has come to take up the slack left by Arte Lisbon, is going to hold its first edition, July 10 - 13, at Estoril’s Congress Center, thus gathering 35 galleries -26 in the Main Section and 9 in Solo Projects-, 29 of which are Iberian-American (83 per cent). They have been handpicked by Barbara Thumm (Berlin), Vermelho (São Paulo), Maisterravalbuena (Madrid), Pedro Oliveira (Porto) and Vera Cortês (Lisbon). Among the Iberian- American galleries to attend the event, it’s important to mention Portuguese Filomena Soares (Lisbon), Pedro Cera (Lisbon) or Cristina Guerra (Lisbon); Spanish Juan Silió (Santander), Rafael Ortiz (Sevilla), Moises Perez de Albeniz (Madrid) or adhoc (Vigo); Brazilian Jaqueline Martins, Casa Triângulo and Nara Roesler; and last but not least, Mexican Kurimanzutto (Mexico City) andColombian Casas Riegner (Bogota).

 

This new show is complemented by a comprehensive curatorial program, organized by Delfim Sardo (Portugal), Filipa Oliveira (Portugal) and Moacir dos Anjos (Brazil), which includes, among other, curatorial areas, 9 'Solo Projects' and"Drawing the World"exhibit, with the significant participation of Iberian-American galleries and artists.

The 'Solo Projects' list is made up of nine galleries and nine artists: Air de Paris Gallery (Paris) with Leonor Antunes (Lisbon, 1972); Belo-Galsterer (Lisbon) with Pedro Sousa Vieira (Oporto, 1963); Casas Riegner (Bogotá) with Johanna Calle (Bogotá, 1965); Jaqueline Martins (São Paulo) with Julia Spínola (Madrid, 1979); Kurimanzutto (Mexico City) with Daniel Guzmán (Mexico City, 1964); Malborough Contemporary (London) with Diango Hernández (Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, 1970); Nara Roesler (São Paulo) with Brígida Baltar (Río de Janeiro, 1959), Gregor Podnar (Berlin) with Attila Csörgo (Budapest, Hungary, 1965) and Schleicher/Lange (Berlin) with Franziska Furter (Zurich, Switzerland, 1972).

 

"Drawing the World"includes Iberian-American artists: Jorge Macchi (Buenos Aires, 1963), Álvaro Lapa (Evora, Portugal, 1939 - London, 2006), Nicolás Paris (Bogotá, 1977), Nicolás Robbio (Mar del Plata, Argentina, 1975), Fernando Bryce (Lima, 1965), Óscar Muñoz (Popayán, Colombia, 1951), Helena Almeida (Lisbon, 1934), Gabriela Albergaria (Vale de Cambra, Portugal, 1965), Jorge Queiroz (Lisbon, 1966), Bruno Cidra (Lisbon, 1982) andItalian-Brazilian Anna Maria Maiolino (Scalea, Italy, 1942 –presently living in São Paulo).
