Fundación Telefónica Launches Art & Artificial Life International Contest, VIDA 15

Throughout VIDA’s fourteen years, the contest has become one of the most prestigious competitions within the world of art and the only the one in the world that puts together art, science and technology. The contest promotes debates on the relations between the natural and the artificial, thus encouraging artistic proposals that invite viewers to go deeper into the natural environment and set creative and green dilemmas up.

42,500 euros will be distributed among the three first prizes within the “Completed Projects” mode. Seven honorable mentions are also going to be delivered and, this year, the event includes two new elements: I+D Prize and the Public’s Special Prize.

With the brand-new I+D Prize, one of the five winners in “Production incentives” category will be supported by a team of Telefonica’s experts in terms of research, development and innovation and will have the opportunity to attend, for a whole month, to Telefonica I + D’s Research Center, in Barcelona. On the other hand, the Public’s Special Prize, in “Completed Projects” category, will be given 2,500 €.

Each contestant can only present one project, which must have been carried out after 2011.

The presentation deadline is July 31, 2013, at 24:00 hours (peninsular time) and the decision of its international jury will be announce in October 2013.
