Interactive Experience at Wifredo Lam Center

Cuba’s Wifredo Lam Center for Contemporary Art is set to open “La dama pintada” (The painted Lady) show on May 3 at 5:00 pm.

La Dama Pintada is a 3D model-and-video interactive experience, created by Andres Tapia-Urzua and Jon Amakawa. It’s a representation of a Victorian house from 1900 with different movies being screened on its windows. Viewers can handpick and activate any window so as to play a video sequence.

Andres Tapia-Urzua’s work, Chilean-American artist based in Pittsburgh, is expressed through videos, music, performance and installation. His works tackles social alienation, mixed with cutting-edge atmospheres and globalization poetics.

Amakawa, professor at Pittsburgh’s Art Institute, is an artist that works in 3D. He’s specialized in creating interactive exhibitions, museums and educative means. His work merges sculpture, drawing, architecture and animation within a virtual environment.
