In 1942, the builders of Brushwood (today’s Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods) constructed the Ryerson Family’s summer home using materials salvaged from demolished buildings. Through this purposeful act of reuse, the builders transformed discarded materials—bricks, floorboards, windows, mantels, and stoves—into something new, a process that reflects regeneration in nature. This exhibition brings together the work of artists and designers who explore the concept of regeneration—material, biological, and spiritual—with a focus on furniture, lighting, and artwork created from reclaimed materials. See how these acts of transformation connect art objects with house, grounds, and nature.
