Cuban Erick Jon Wins Akademia Music Award in Los Angeles

HAVANA, Cuba.-  Cuban singer and composer Erick Jon has recently won an Akademia Music Award, a prize given by the homonymous institution based in Los Angeles, the United States.

The prize, deserved in the Latin music category, will be officially handed over to the artist during a gala that will take place on January 20, 2017 in that city, where he will interpret a version of Te extraño (I Miss You), by Armando Manzanero.

Participating in this version recorded and produced in Cuba that won him the acknowledgement were producers and arrangers Eusebio Vega and Tony Careers, as had the accompaniment of Alexander Abreu in the trumpet.

The official Web site of the Akademy specified that Jon constitutes one of the strongest talents in the Latin context, because he has an uncommon vocal quality.

The young artist had this opportunity when he participated in May in the Pori Jazz Festival of Helsinki, capital of Finland, a Festival attended by several representatives of the U.S. institution.

With 16 years of artistic career and four albums, this creator was trained for eight years at the Pop Jazz Conservatory of Helsinki.
