Madrid: Spanish photographers Salvador Lopez, Hector Mediavilla, Cesar Merino and Luis Diaz Diaz will be officially in charge of sending daily reports on ARCOMadrid 2011.
The FOTOACTITUD contest jury made up of photographers Eugenio Recuenco and Chema Madoz, both Keep Walking Project ambassadors; ARCOMadrid director Carlos Urroz, and Oliva Maria Rubio, commissioner and exposition director of La Fabrica, unanimously picked the four winners among the 120 finalists. FOTOACTITUD set a new record of 18,000 photographic entries and over 1,600 participating photographers.
Lopez, Mediavilla, Merino and Diaz came up with series that eventually led the jurors to their final decision: Roig 26; Un sapeur en Brazaville; Mi gran pequeño universo, and Backstage portraits, respectively.
On how the final decision was made, Urroz said: “We were looking for coherence in telling a story, with images that truly reflect the daily life and out attitude towards it.”
The four winners will be entitled to exhibit their works at the 2012 edition of ARCOMadrid.
