Ten curiosities of the Grand Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso

Now that the twenty-sixth edition of the International Festival of Ballet invites us, it would be good to remember ten curiosities of the Grand Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso, the headquarters of the National Ballet of Cuba (NBC) since 1965.

Since its opening it has had other names, such as Grand National Theater, Estrada Palma Theater and García Lorca Theater. Inside its rooms are the names of great intellectuals such as the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, the composer and performer Ernesto Lecuona and the writer Alejo Carpentier.

The most prestigious figures and companies of ballet, opera and international drama, musicians and artists of the show business have paraded for its proscenium. The GTH has also been the home of the National Lyric Theater and the Spanish Ballet of Cuba. It is true that one hundred and eighty years are many lives within the panorama of the world performing arts. Is lunettes will guard with suspicion other significant curiosities, perhaps stories of lovers or magical moments only there lived.
