Reaffirms collateral program of the XIII Biennial inclusive character of the habanera appointment

As an expression of the Biennial, as far as the inclusive nature of the same is concerned, Jorge Alfonso García described the collateral program that will accompany this thirteenth edition, in which some 800 artists of different generations, styles, expressions and geographical origin will take part.

In a press conference held recently, the executive director of the event, which will be inaugurated on April 12, said that it is, moreover, an ideal opportunity to present a vast panorama of the best of contemporary Cuban art to foreign attendees. to the appointment, among those who are critics, marchers and museum directors.

The preponderance that has been given to the collective projects, among the more than 200 approved to date, was highlighted on that occasion by Ernesto Joel Ramírez, head of the Commission of the Collateral Samples, who explained that in this way they expanded the possibilities of giving participation to a greater number of artists.

The director of the Visual Arts Development Center also pointed out that, in the collateral program, there will also be personal and two-person exhibitions, open studio and actions in public spaces; which will be presented not only in galleries, but also in other institutions of the Culture system of eight municipalities of the capital, in which the required conditions exist.

In this regard, he mentioned the Cuban Art Factory, the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, the headquarters of the theater group El Ciervo Encantado, the Serigraphy Workshop, the House of Culture of Plaza, the Centro a + Espacios Adolescentes, of the Office of the Historian of the City, and the Hotel Riviera.

Among the collateral projects stand out the fourth edition called HB, which encompasses art marketing institutions, such as Genesis. Art Galleries and the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets; as well as the one that under the heading of New lights for a city will gather works of recognized authors in the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski.

As for the personal exhibitions were mentioned, among others, those of Niels Reyes, in the gallery Artis 718; Eduardo Ponjuan's, on the 23rd and 12th; and that of José Emilio Fuentes Fonseca (Jeff) at Piscolabis Bazar-Café.

Some of the open studio included in the collateral program will be those of Alfredo Saravia, René Francisco, Frank Mujica and José Ángel Vincench; while Cecilio Áviles, the Italian Michelangelo Pistoletto and Elizabet Cerviño will star in three of the 19 interventions in public spaces that will take place outside the central nucleus of the Biennial.

In Pinar del Río, Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Camagüey, provinces to which this year the Havana Biennial is extended for the first time, actions will also be carried out that, although they are related to those of the official program, will take place in parallel to this.
