35th Bienal: video about Melchor María Mercado

Did you know that Melchor María Mercado's Álbum de paisajes, tipos humanos y costumbres de Bolivia [Album of Landscapes, Human Types and Mores of Bolivia] is considered a Bolivian national treasure?

Watch the video we produced about the arrival of the work, which is on the blue floor of the Bienal Pavilion, and about the negotiations that included a change in Bolivian legislation to allow the temporary export of national artistic heritage!

If you haven't seen this 19th century gem, be sure to stop by the 35th Bienal to check it out! Half of the watercolors are on display until October 22, when they will be replaced by the other half. Take the opportunity to visit the Bienal again to see them.

The sixth and final episode of the series Histórias da Bienal [Stories from the Bienal], produced by Fundação Bienal and the Arte1 channel, with sponsorship from Bloomberg, is now on air. The episode deals exclusively with the 35th Bienal. In it, the four curators explore the theme of the show, as well as the artists Ana Pi, Tadáskía, Luana Vitra, Kidlat Tahimik and Daniel Lie comment on the process of creating their works, and imagining other possible worlds. Watch the episode on our YouTube channel.

To make the experience of visiting the show easier, the Fundação Bienal has partnered with Bloomberg Connects, a free app with guides to more than two hundred museums and cultural spaces around the world. Download the app and amplify your visit with information and details about this Bienal, such as texts, photos and videos about the participants and their works, watch videos about contemporary art, find the location of your favorite artist in the show and follow our public program.

Download the app on Google Play or App Store.

Book your group mediated visit during the 35th Bienal! Fundação Bienal's education team offers group visits in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Brazilian Sign Language, at various times of the week. To visit the exhibition with a group of less than ten people, just go to a mediation space for a spontaneous visit.
