Postponement of MENART FAIR Brussels

MENART FAIR, dedicated to galleries presenting artists from the Middle East & North Africa, was to be held in the private mansion of the Cornette de Saint Cyr auction house, Brussels. Due to the health context, the organizer postpones its first Belgian edition, initially scheduled from January 21 to 23, 2022.

The evolution of the sanitary situation in Belgium has prompted the authorities to install strict new measures, including the closure of venues hosting more than 50 visitors simultaneously. Other countries are in the process of closing their borders, preventing their inhabitants from travelling.

Only museums and foundations can remain open, on a limited capacity.

" It is with regret that we have decided to postpone our first edition in Brussels. As the health situation is getting tougher, we do not want to plunge galleries coming from far away (Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine, Iran, United Arab Emirates...) into uncertainty: they would have to organize their transportation right now, in a too uncertain situation. MENART FAIR is a warm and convivial fair created in a spirit of encounters, discoveries and exchanges, which the current context does not allow " says Laure d'Hauteville, founder and director of MENART FAIR.

" During our various trips to Belgium, we have seen a keen interest in ME.NA art from Belgian institutions, museums and collectors! This fact reinforces us, more than ever, to hold MENART FAIR Brussels as soon as the situation allows us to do so, in complete security for the participating galleries and for the visitors ", adds Joanna Chevalier, artistic director of the fair.
