Pati de la Llotja Award for Emerging Photographers

In order to shed light among agents from cultural and art sector on the finest emerging photographers of the world, Emergent-Lleida, International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, will sponsor 40 artists per year, through an international and public call.

The selection will guarantee a space at Pati de la Llotja to show the portfolio to followers or agents from the art sector who are called by the festival.

Followersare all those commissioners, collectors, directors of festivals, gallery owners, directors of art centers or museums, editors, cultural agents, who provide support for new creators and want to be posted on the novelties that Emergent-Lleida can offer through Pati de la Llotja.

Any artist/photographer who is considered emerging, from any country, there’s no age limit, may participate with a series of 15 or 20 pictures in digital format, with only one theme. Works must be sent to www.elpatidelallotja.org, before June 30, 2011.

Rafael Doctor (Director of MUSAC 2005-2009) will be the curator in charge of handpicking works and authors for 2011 Pati de la Llotja.

Selected authors will be committed to take their printed portfolio to the Pati de la Llotja on October 27 and 28, 2011, in Lleida. They’ll be provided a physical space so as to exhibit their works to followers and the public, and they’ll be also opting for the following prizes: participating in the collective exhibition at The Private Space Gallery (Barcelona) in July 2012; edition and exhibition of works by The Private Space Books; selection and production of exhibition by Fernando Peracho from Valid Foto BCN in the gallery (2012), and representation in events and fairs.

Likewise, eight of the artists/photographers who reach the final will be handpicked by the festival to showcase their works through the special edition of New Papers magazine to be published by Emergent-Lleida in October 2011. The magazine will be distributed for free in centers such as Reina Sofia Museums, MACBA, CCCB, Matadero, among others.
