Sixth Edition of LAGUNA ART PRIZE

November 2011 sets the announcement deadline for Arte Laguna Award, which includes five sections: painting, sculpture, photography, video art and performance. Creators from all over the world are allowed to present their projects and there’s no age limit.

Each artist can participate with one or two free-subject works in more than one section. Igor Zati, acclaimed art critic, is the curator for the Award. The jury is made up of Alessio Antoniolli (England, Director of Gasworks, London), Chiara Barbieri (Italy, Director of Publications Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice), Gabriella Belli (Italy, Director MART Rovereto), Ilaria Bonacossa (Italy, Independent Curator), Soledad Gutierrez (Spain, Curator of MACBA in Barcelona), Kanchi Mehta (India, Curator at India’s Pavilion in Prague Biennial), Ludovico Pratesi (Italy, Director of Arti Visive Pescheria Center in Pesaro), Maria Savarese (Italy, independent curator), Ralf Schmitt (Germany, Director of Preview Berlin) and Alma Zevi (Switzerland, Art Critic). The team will handpick the 110 works that reach the final and will make up a collective exhibition in Venice.

MoCA Cultural Association (Modern Contemporary Art) and Studio Arte Laguna have created this Award in order to asses and promote contemporary art. The Award got a medal from Italy’s President and is sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regione Veneto and the Istituto Europeo di Design IED, among others. Selected artists will be given prizes in cash, residences and the publication of artworks in the event’s catalogue. The total amount is € 150.000, € 7.000 per each area.

Other prizes related to the announcement are “Business for Art” Special Award (STILE Original Design: € 8.000 plus a project to be defined with the selected artist), prizes “Artist in Residence” (dedicated to artists who present more than two artworks in each category and delivered by the Scuola del Vetro Abate Zanetti, Art Stays, IAAB and Carlo Zauli Museum), special prizes for personal exhibitions in galleries of Italy, Brazil and the USA, as well as the inclusion of works in international collective exhibitions (OPEN, International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations in Venice; and TINA B, Contemporary Art Festival in Prague).

The registration can be done online or by mail through November 11, 2011, after having paid the registration fee (€50.00 per one work / €90.00 per two in the same category). The documentation can also be delivered at the Award Secretariat (Via Roma, 29/A, 31021 Mogliano V., Italy).
