International Summoning for Young Artists

El Camarote, a group devoted to cultural promotion, launched earlier this year a summoning call with deadline set for Aug. 31. The main goal is to reel in new creators to its exhibition space by making them join its invitational exhibition program.

The group was founded by some artists somewhere between 2003 and 2004 who had shared a scholarship granted by the Antonio Gala Foundation for Young Artists in Cordoba. In 2008, they set up shop in Ciudad Real, a place that serves as both an exhibition hall and a workshop. This space is given to a resident artist for the development of his or her work during a certain span of time.

Since then, many young artists from Spain and other countries have exposed heir works there. Some of them are Antonio Blazquez, Susana Ibañez, Miguel Moreno, Juami, Alfonso Alacala, Torregar, Cuco, Aitor Saraiba and Paco Leal.

At least one of the projects made by an artist who is 18 to 35 years old will be handpicked. A maximum of half a dozen pieces will be chosen and they will be part of the exhibition hall’s 2011 program between the months of Sept. and Dec. The final selection will be posted on the website and the gallery will cover the expenses on mounting and transportation, while production will be on the artist.

It’s not too late to present your project. For more information, visit http://www.elcamarote-colectivomutantedeartistas.com/
