This event has been recently called, exclusively summoning Cuban creators. Competing artworks and the grand prize of Belkis Ayon Colografia National Contest are going to be exhibited in Cienfuegos, Cuba, within the framework of Fiesta de la Estampa, to kick off on April 6, 2013; and they will be showcased in the country’s capital city later on.
The competition has been called by the National Fine Arts Council, Cuba’s National Writers & Artists League (UNEAC) and the Graphic Society of Cienfuegos, in coordination with Belkis Ayon’s Estate, the Provincial Council of Fine Arts, UNEAC’s Provincial Committee, the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, Paradiso Cultural Agency and ARTEX in Cienfuegos.
Belkis’ work represented a milestone in the history of engraving at national and international levels, combined with an intense pedagogic work that gives even more dimension to her purposes. People interested in the contest, students or artists, can present pieces created by using this technique between 2011 and 2012, the pieces must not have been previously showcased in any exhibition, event or contest. The works are to be sent without having been framed, through certified mail or personally delivered before March 10, 2013, at the head office of the Provincial Art Center in Cienfuegos.
