Carlos García de la Nuez’s “Mis dos islas” (My Two Islands), in Havana

 

Since July 11 and through August 11 Havana Gallery will be showcasing solo show entitled Mis dos islasby Mexico-based Cuban artist Carlos García de la Nuez.

 

The display gathers twenty of the artist’s most recent paintings, abstract paintings that suggest some details of representation.

 

Carlos García de la Nuezgot his degree in 1979, at the mythical San Alejandro Academy(Havana), Havana’s Higher Art Institute and his master’s in Visual Arts at Massachusetts College of Art. The artist has exhibited his work in Russia, Germany, United States, Italy, Brazil, France, Costa Rica, Mexico and Cuba, among other countries.

 

His paintings have been acquired by important museums and galleries around the world, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts (Havana, Cuba), Housatonic Museum of Art (Connecticut, United States), Museum of Costa Rican Art (San José, Costa Rica), Artuel Gallery (Paris, France), Domberger Gallery in Stuttgart (Germany), and Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Art(Florida, United States), among other.
