Fifth World Triennial of Tile Ceramics (2014 elit-tile) Announced at MAM

The Igneri/Art & Archaeology Foundation announces the Fifth World Triennial of Tile Ceramics (2014 elit-tile), to open on November 14 at the Dominican Republic’s Museum of Modern Art (MAM).

Thimo Pimentel, organizer and founder of the Triennial of Ceramics, explained that artists from nearly 111 countries have already registered to participate in this word event. “We have been receiving works since April, 15 x 15 centimeter format as top area and 80 percent of ceramic component, as established in the guidelines”.

The Triennial, as it’s internationally known, was created by graphic artist and cultural promoter Thimo Pimentel in 1998 and ever since it puts the Dominican Republic on the map of ceramic art.

A comprehensive program of collateral actions is going to be carried out within the framework of the Fifth World Triennial, including the exhibition of paintings, ceramics and sculptures, artistic presentations, performances, among other cultural expressions.

The Igneri/Art & Archaeology Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that targets the promotion and development of art and archaeology by means of the research, exhibition and publication of any action or material that supports this purpose.

The Foundation also fosters the rescue of the graphic and other artistic expressions practiced by the first inhabitants of the Antilles, as well as the development of the ceramic mosaic and spreading of the work developed by its most prominent representative in the Dominican Republic, Master Paul Giudicelli (1919-1965).

The Fifth Triennial is supported by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture and Altos de Chavón Cultural Foundation, PUNTACANA Cultural Foundation, Aguayo Industries and the Lapp Group, among other institutions.
