The International Fair of Contemporary Art in Barcelona crowns Malaga Javier Calleja

The international fair of contemporary art in Barcelona, ??Swab, which closed yesterday in Barcelona, has crowned Javier Calleja (Malaga 1971). The Malaga citizen was chosen as the best Spanish artist, award from DKV Insurance Company, present in this great event of global significance.

"The awards are always received with great joy. This award is a great encouragement to continue working. It is always important to be recognized in your country, "Calleja said in a telephone interview with this newspaper. This artist, who devoted himself to drawing, painting and sculpture, attended this exhibition with the gallery of Madrid Rafael Perez Hernando. He was one of 165 artists from twenty countries that participated in this international event of reference.

The winning work entitles I hate red and the award is that it has been acquired by DKV for its collection of contemporary art –considered as one of the most important in the country-. "I hate red is a composition between drawing, painting and mural-painting. In my work, I play a lot with the irony in art and in the case of the winning work what I tried to transmit is a rethinking of the limits on the size of a work of art and the limits of art," Calleja explained.

Award Marset

It is the only award with which the Malaga artist returns from the fair Swab in Barcelona. Javier Calleja has also won the second edition of the award Marset Idea Art, sponsored by a private collector, and which is intended to provide an opportunity for emerging artists.

The winning work with this award is titled Everything Starts With big something small and, like the other winner, abounds on the subject about the limits in the art format, as detailed by the artist.

These awards do not lower the guard Javier Calleja, who is in full whirl of preparations for the Madrid contemporary art fair Estampa to be held in Matadero space of the capital from October 9th  to October 12th . In this 22nd edition, the Malaga artist will come with the gallery of Marbella Yusto Giner and an unbeatable cover letter as are these two recent awards in Barcelona.

All this during 2014 where the giant Internet Instagram placed in its profile a work by Javier Calleja, which was a success. One artist who earlier this year participated with German Boris Hoppek in the fourth edition of 'A3Bandas', which launched simultaneously thirty exhibitions and where the Malaga artist showed his ondividual País de las Maravillas (Wonderland).
