The Ellas Crean Festival, in its second edition in Cuba, develops a comprehensive program. Art for Excellencies is pleased to invite you to the event that, organized by the Embassy of Spain and the Cuban Ministry of Culture, aims to address the gender perspective a positive approach through cultural and artistic creativity of women on the island.
Among the proposals of the program for the Performing Arts shines the presentation of the monologue Remolino en las aguas (Swirl in the waters), by Leidis Diaz, Mephisto Theatre on Thursday, October 16th at the Cultural Center Bertolt Brecht, at seven in the evening.
The monologue, 2012Caricatos Award, is a great challenge and voice acting. In one hour and five minutes, the art frenzy of the La Lupe erupts passages filled with Cuban tradition. It's not a real story of the life of La Lupe but Gerardo Fulleda recreates in the fiction the essence of the singer with all the passion and vehemence of a Woman that managed to overcome her fears, showing her creative greatness.
The ultimate goal is not to imitate the unequaled Lupe, but those who knew her, remember her and today’s young people young recognize and admire her. Its main content is the love, passion and defending the authentic, which determines the genius.
It is hardly achieved because a lot of courage to be different is needed. It is a winding road, full of misunderstandings, but valid because it transcends eras and territories.
It will also be a tribute to Tony Diaz, director of Mephisto Theatre, recently deceased.
