Spanish Architecture abroad

ICO Museum (Madrid) will present in February 2015 the exhibition 'EXPORT: Spanish Architecture abroad'. From November 17th through 30th, the initiative of the architect and curator Edgar Gonzalez invites professionals and Spanish studies that are working abroad to be part of the exhibit by sending their projects.

As the commissioner recalls, "in addition to the dedicated architecture personalities building large reference projects, there is a generation of professionals who are making out their first work, or working in co-operation or in the shade of large international offices and we want them to have a key role in the exhibition we are creating. "

So they invited the Spanish architects who are working out to submit their projects to gather creative experiences spanning from the construction to design, graphic, industrial, fashion ..., through research or editorial work.

From past to future

EXPORT: Spanish Architecture abroad will be articulated into three chapters: Past, Present and Future. The brunt of the exhibition will be represented by the currently framed in a period that includes two emblematic works of Spanish architecture, Yokohama Maritime Terminal (2002) by Alejandro Zaera-Polo and the Rijksmuseum (2013) by Cruz and Ortiz.

The exhibit, very graphic and documentary will also tour through emblematic works of Spanish architecture on the outside prior to 2002, and will try to shape the future through a series of narrative threads, cross information that visitors can use to draw their own conclusions about the future of architecture.
