JOAN MIRO AWARD 2015

The distinction is one of the most important artistic recognition the world, thanks to the prestige of the driving institution, the Fundació Joan Miró. The Joan Miró Award has the support of "la Caixa " Social Work, which is responsible for the prize of 70,000 euros and production of award-winning solo exhibitions scheduled for 2016. The artist also receives an award conceived by André Ricard, inspired by the spirit and identity of Joan Miró and the Fundació.

 

In 2015 the fifth edition of the biennial award that has previously distinguished Olafur Eliasson (2007), Pipilotti Rist (2009), Mona Hatoum (2011) and Roni Horn (2013) is  celebrated.

 

The jury of the 2015 Joan Miró Award consists of renowned professionals in the field of contemporary art: Alfred Pacquement, director of the Musée national d'art moderne-Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris); Vicent Todolí, former director of the Tate Modern (London); Poul Erik Tøjner, director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Humlebæk, Denmark); Rosa Maria Malet, director of the Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona); and Nimfa Bisbe, director of the Collection of Contemporary Art Fundación "la Caixa". The winner was selected valuing innovation and freedom in the field of creation, which also characterized the life and work of Joan Miró.

 

The delivery of Joan Miró Award 2015 will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd , at 12.30 h during a private ceremony with attention to the press, to be held in the Auditorium of the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona with the presence of the award-winning artist; Elisa Duran, deputy general director of the Banking Fundació "la Caixa" and Rosa Maria Malet, director of the Fundació Joan Miró.
