"Temps fugit" in Canals-Galeria d'Art

Canals-Galeria d'Art presents the exhibition "Temps fugit" in its space of 16 Street La Creu de Sant Cugat del Vallès. The inauguration will take place on December 16th at 19.30 h.

Tempus fugit is a Latin phrase that means time escapes and invites you to not lose it. It is a literary topic on the brevity of life. The term first appears in Book III of the Georgics, poem by the Roman poet Virgil. The exact phrase is "Sed tempus fugit Interea irreparabile fugit" "But meanwhile it escapes, time irreparable escapes."

This Latin phrase is often inscribed in large clocks. In some sundials it can also be found this complete sentence: "Tempus fugit, sicut clouds, quasi naves, velut umbra", "Time flies, like clouds, like ships, like the shadows".

The last exhibition of Canals-Galeria d'Art 2014, wants to be a reflection on the passage of time and the artists who have gone through this gallery during its 40 years of existence.

In the exhibition can be seen works of different artists, some internationally recognized as Picasso, some younger as Pladevall and others that the gallery has defended and which form part of the new generation of creators, as Barnils, Belz, Colet, Canals ...

This is a sign of aging through art and trends, with all political and social connotations of an end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the new century, and is also a collection of works by different authors, that during the past 40 years has had solo or group exhibitions in this space art: Manuel Aramendia, Daniel Argimon, Josep M. Avilés, Juan Carlos Balance, Carles Briega, Joaquim Budesca, Josep Canals Gual, Jaume Carbonell, Jorge Castillo, Neus Colet, Alex Fluvià, Domènec Fita, Pere Formiguera, Enric Giralt, Ramon Herreros, Conxa Ibáñez, Anna Miquel, Alex Nogué, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Enric Pladevall, MA Raventos, Amèlia Riera, Ferran Soriano, Josep Uclés, Vicencs Viaplana and Antoni Xaus.
