Over a hundred Latin-American artists to enjoy distinguished exhibition at ARCOmadrid

Some 100 Latin American artists will enjoy a distinguished exhibition in the next edition of ARCOmadrid that with the presence of Colombia as a country guest will have a strong Latin American presence, consolidating –according to the press release- its role as “a bridge to access the European and Asian market”. Of 218 galleries from 29 countries that will part of this edition, 47 are from Latin America (10 of them representing Colombia), 11 are from Portugal, and 64 are from Spain (59 of them are part of the general program). It is also outstanding the incorporation or return of international galleries such as Continua (Italy), Leon Tovar (US), as well as Luisa Strina and Vermelho (Brazil).

 

Among the artists to whom a special space will be dedicated at the Fair include 28 Colombians such as Carlos Motta (Bogotá, 1978 – living in New York,United Sates) and Óscar Murillo (La Paila, 1986 – living in London, UK); 17 Spaniards such as Adrià Julià (Barcelona, 1974 – living in L.A, California) Elena Bajo (Madrid, 1976 – living in L.A California) who participates with two galleries; 12 Brazilians such as Anna María Maiolino (Scalea, Italia, 1942 – living in São Paulo, Brasil) and Sérgio Sister (São Paulo, 1948); 10 Argentinians such as Matías Duville (Buenos Aires, 1974) and Nicolás Robbio (Mar de Plata, 1975 – living in São Paulo, Brasil) ; 9 Mexicans such as Mariana Castillo Deball (Mexico city, 1975 – living in Berlin, Alemania) and Teresa Margolles (Culiacán, 1963); others 9 from Peru such as Fernando Bryce (Lima, 1965) and Teresa Burga (Iquitos, 1965); also 6 Chileans, 5 Portugueses, 3 Ecuadorians, some others from Guatemal, 2 from Dominican Republic and from Venezuela.

 

In the presentation of the new edition of the Fair, it was reaffirmed that the organization allocates a third of its budget (some 1.5 M Euros of 4.5 M of total estimate) to attract collectors, 300 of them from 33 countries have confirmed their attendance and the half will participate at the Fair for the first time. Also companies and collections have confirmed their purchase commitment. They include members from 9915 Asociation, the Bank of the Republic of Colobia -which collection was awarded this year -, DKV Seguros, the Mapfre Foundation, Helga de Alvear, the Iberdrola Foundation –it was also awarded- and Inelcom, as well as museums like the Reina Sofía and the Perez Art Museum, in Miami.
