Odes in Prussian Blue as a Tribute to Alicia Alonso

Havana.- Prima ballerina Alicia Alonso returns to the stage, this time, thanks to the hands of Cuban artist Jesus Lara, who paid tribute to her today through his piece Odes in Prussian Blue. The work is included in his personal exhibition Irla, opened as part of the XII Biennial of Havana in the Hall of Mirrors at the Museum of the Revolution.

"With gestures like these one I feel surrounded by friends and that gives me strength", Alonso said during the opening of the exhibition.

In Odes in Prussian Blue I could pour my spirit, my frenzy, my passion, said Lara who wanted to pay tribute to the creator of the National Ballet of Cuba with this large painting.

The painting was made with waste materials, medicines such as methylene blue, toothpaste, children's watercolors, charcoal drawing, acrylic and poly-chromatic chalks.

"Odes in Prussian Blue is a huge piece, I had to fill in charcoal and poly-chromatic chalk an area of three square meters approximately", said Lara.
