Colombia, Guest at Mexico International Book Fair

Mexico.- The 27th International Fair of Books on Anthropology and History (Filah), with Colombia and the state of Chiapas as guests of honor, will open its doors today at the Mexican capital until next October 4. Over 20 thousand titles of 89 editorial houses and 103 presentations are programmed at Filah, together with six academic forums, round tables, artistic manifestations, 15 worikshops for children and youths and the projection of 35 films.

 

Diego Prieto, technical secretary of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, affirmed the fair is an opportunuity to attract the public toward anthropology and history, as well as to the topics developed by specialists of cultural heritage.

 

He added this patrimony is present in the Spanish-speaking community and we try to expand it more to Iberoamerica and the world.

 

In this edition, those invited to the literary feast are Colombia and Chiapas, which will show the best of their editorial production and of their cultural manifestations as music, dances and cinema, he said.

 

Prieto underlined that Filah has grown considerably and mentioned how from 180 thousand visitors in 2013, the number increased to 211 thousand in 2014, while this year organizers expect more than 250 thousand visitors.

 

This literary event that will take place in this capital's National Anthropology Museum, will start with delivering the award Antonio Garcia Cubas to the editorial excellency in topics of anthropology and history.

 

Colombia will participate with 400 titles published by different universities of the South American country, some recently edited.

 

Its music and dances will also be presented as well as a film sample of 15 movies and the photo exhibition ''Look at the Colombian archaeology patrimony'', made up of 40 pieces on the archaeological parks of the south of that country.

 

As for academic activities, there will be the 20th Symposium of Román Piña Chan, from 27 to 29th September.

 

This last day there will be a dialogue in the memory of famous Mexican writer, Eraclio Zepeda, recently deceased.

 

Coffee Aromas: Experiences and Influences between Mexico and Colombia, is to analyze, from thed anthropological perspective, the influence of the seed in both cultures.
