IFEMA organises International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOlisbon

IFEMA is taking its ARCO brand to Portugal with the International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOlisbon, which will take place from 26 to 29 May 2016 in the Fábrica Nacional da Cordoaria, located in Belém, with 40 international galleries taking part.

Following on from its counterpart, ARCOmadrid, ARCOlisbon will seek to raise the profile of the Portuguese art and culture scene and provide the professional space and context to analyse and raise awareness of the richness and diversity of the Portuguese art scene. Around 40 international art galleries selected by an Organising Committee will present artists who inspire an open and ongoing dialogue with the Portuguese creative scene. By focusing on the idea of the “Outstanding Artist”, ARCOlisbon will present artists whose work reflects the links between Spain and Brazil and the throws light on the key moments and events that have shaped Portuguese art and culture.

The intention is that ARCOlisbon will be held annually. It will be open to the public from 26 to 29 May 2016 and will dedicate its inauguration day (25 May from 6pm on) to international professionals and collectors, including those making up the planned guest Collectors’ Programme.
