Winning Works of Casa de las Americas Prize to Be Presented

Havana.- The winning works of the 2015 edition of the Casa de las Americas Literary Prize will be presented today during the penultimate day of this year's event. Organizers of the 57th Casa Award recently stressed in a statement the book La novela de la poesia, by Argentine Tamara Kamenszain, and final winner in the Poetry category with the Jose Lezama Lima Prize.

 

Other awarded books last year in the poetic category -the work by Colombian Nelson Romero entitled Bajo el brillo de la luna- has also generated a notorious interest in Cuban readers waiting to acquire such title.

 

Besides the launching of the 2015 winning books, the organizing committee prepared for the penultimate day of the event a panel entitled The challenge of the Latin American literary studies.

 

Authorized name of the intellectual firmament of the continent such as Brazilian Idelber Avelar, Argentine Viviana Gelado, and Puerto Rican Julio Ramos, among others who are also part of the jury of this literary event, will be involved in this theoretical meeting.

 

According to organizers, the case of Ramos is one of those expected within the judges of the 2016 Casa Literary Prize, due to the event constitutes his return to Cuba, a country where he was born before being moved to Puerto Rico from an early age.

 

With more than 400 works in three languages, and a jury composed of 20 experts, the 57th Casa de las Americas Literary Prize will be closed tomorrow after the winners of several categories have been presented.
