First Salsa Festival, a party of music and dance

Well known popular dance music groups of the Island musical scenario will participate from February 25 to 28 in the First Salsa Festival.

The event, led by Maykel Blanco director of Salsa Mayor, will count with the participation of famous and new orchestras, among them Los Van Van and Issac Delgado on Thursday 25 and El niño y la verdad and Pupy y los que Son Son on the 26th. 

Klimax, El Noro y Primera Clase and Alexander Abreu with Havana D´ Primera will play on Saturday 27, and the closing on Sunday will be in charge of Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor, Elito Revé y su Charangón and Lazarito Valdés y Bamboleo.

Maykel Blanco commented to Cubarte that one of the main attractions of the event will be the dance based on a program of classes and workshops designed for those days starting at 5:00 pm conducted by dancers and choreographers

He said that the event will be also attended by famous national and international Djs like the French Jack el Calvo and Patricia, the Italian Ivan and Cuban Mandy Dj.

The purpose of this Salsa Festival, as explained the leader of Salsa Mayor, is to make the Cuban popular dance music known internationally such as other artistic manifestations ad for the new generations to feel identify with the salsa.

He also said they expect the participation of foreign artists for next editions of the event.

The Festival will be also dedicated to children with special activities for them on Sunday 28 with carnival parades, children companies and dance classes of the different Cuban rhythms.

The tickets for the festival can be bought from Monday 22 at the movie theatres Payret, Alameda, Lido, City Hall and at the Parque Metropolitano.
