Leo Brouwer to promise the Cuban public surprises for next festival

Havana. - Maestro Leo Brouwer promised the Cuban public big surprises for the festival his office organizes and that will be presented on September and October.

“There will be not very well known stars here but there are others that just to mention their names will be enough to cram a stadium", said the musician and composer to Prensa Latina.

These festivals were previously carrying my name as a promotion strategy but I really don´t like to use it in that sense, confessed.

Brouwer also referred to the careful selection of works so as to present pieces that are not usually listening to here when classic music concerts are organized.

"We are not interested in repeating the same repertoire, we will never do that. That´s why we always bring surprises", he said.

I´ve been working in music many years and I have friends in the whole world who enjoy great prestige and many of them have great interest to come to Cuba, he detailed.

In a general way he added, we try to maintain a balance among the different types of music.

As an extension of the Festival Leo Brouwer, integrated by diverse genres and types of music, was born in 2015 the Festival Les Voix Humaines with the intention to call the attention about world peace, human spirituality, ecology and human rights.

For the first time this year, the Leo Brouwer Office made a cycle of solidarity concerts at the Parroquia del Vedado, with the participation of prestigious musicians like flutist Niurka González and the Cords Quartet Amadeo Roldán.

To continue its agenda, during July the Leo Brouwer Office will offer several classic presentations. On July 15 and 16 there will be concerts by the Cole-Robertson Trio and guest musicians of the Lynn University Conservatory of Florida at the Convento de San Francisco de Asís en La Habana.
