Excelencias Embarks on the Caribbean

Excelencias Turísticas del Caribe y Las Américas 142 and Arte por Excelencias 29 magazines, as well as Excelencias Cuba Guidebook, were launched at the City Curator’s Office in Santiago de Cuba, within the framework of the 36th edition of Fiesta del Fuego.

“A magazine that keeps on fostering the visual arts realm, but it features a wider range of artistic expressions to show diversity,” that was how Jose Luis Estrada, its editor, described Arte por Excelencias magazine.

That’s why it’s not only present in the main shows, like Art Marbella and SWAP Barcelona, or such an exhibit as Fuerza y Sangre, but it also gives a voice to Guido Lopez Gavilan, winner of Cuba’s National Music Award, or both the Caribbean Festival and Fiesta del Fuego, in Santiago de Cuba, a multicultural event where the Excelencias Group was actually born.
On the other hand, Marisel Morejon, editor of Excelencias Cuba Guidebook, explained its characteristics, since it comprises the printed magazine, mobile app and website, which put together the most complete information on tourism, cultural, gastronomic and accommodation services, among others, throughout Cuba.

The publication of Excelencias Santiago de Cuba Guidebook was announced during the meeting. It’s going to be produced by both the Excelencias Group and the City Curator’s Office.

The 142nd issue of Excelencias Turísticas magazine, which tackled the multicultural miscegenation in the Caribbean, on the occasion of Fiesta del Fuego, was introduced by its editor Diana Rita Cabrera.

Likewise, Omar Lopez, Curators of Santiago de Cuba City, shared details on the articles included in the magazine and highlighted the careful selection and illustration process.

The Curator thanked the Excelencias Group because, with this meeting and its Excelencias Turísticas No. 142, it puts an end to the celebrations for the 500th Anniversary of Santiago de Cuba City, since special issues were dedicated to it.

Orlando Verges, director of Casa del Caribe, extoled the values of these issues “that have not fallen into banalities, as it frequently happens with tourism-related publications. This magazine has always delivered high-quality articles, characterized by fine taste.”

The living statues, members of Ojos Teatro project, complemented the presentation with their colorful style. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power, a delegation of the Tourism Ministry in Santiago de Cuba, members of the Experts Council on the Coty’s 5th Centenarian, Malongo Foundation, Fund of Cultural Goods, and the media.
