HAVANA, Cuba.- Artists from some 16 countries will come to Cuba to participate in the 25th edition of Havana's International Ballet Festival, to be held from October 28 to November 6, and that for the first time will be named after its president, Alicia Alonso.
So far, the nations that have confirmed their attendance are Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, France, Great Britain, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Mongolia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Russia and Uruguay, as informed by the official Web site of Cuba's National Ballet Company (BNC).
A variety of activities will be carried out within the framework of the Festival, which will offer as special option a course on ballet techniques for professionals, professors, and students of advanced levels. Also, there will be exhibitions in art galleries of this capital, lectures, book presentations and cinema and video cycles.
Among the classic pieces to be presented at the Mella, Nacional and Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso theaters we find Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote and La fille mal Gardée.
