Santiago de Chile.- Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John, famous for her performances in Grease and Xanadu, is the first artist to be confirmed for the Viña del Mar Festival in 2017.
The announcement was made today by the mayor of the Chilean city, Virginia Reginato, who said that the popular singer will perform on February 23rd at Quinta Vergara, the venue of the festival.
The career of Olivia Newton-John, 68, has had its ups and downs, but was revived after a performance in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games Sydney 2000.
Newton-John's golden age was in the 1970's and 1980's, when she appeared in popular movies like 'Grease' next to John Travolta.
Her latest album dates back to 2007 and her most recent performance was at a show in Las Vegas in 2015.
The Viña del Mar Festival, attended by international artists, will be held from February 20th to 25th 2017.
