Madrid.- The inaugural edition of MARBELLA DESIGN was announced today. The new fair will take place from September 6th to the 10th at Palacio de Ferias, Congresos y Exposiciones of Marbella under the artistic direction of Manuel Díaz Cebrian, an event meant as a meeting point for gallerists, designers, architects, decorators, collectors and design aficionados.
MARBELLA DESIGN will gather a selection of international galleries, special projects and a programme of talks that will showcase the latest trends in design.
The fair is organised by the team behind ART MARBELLA, led by Alejandro Zaia, who said “following the resounding success of the fair in its first two editions we are increasing our commitment to turn Marbella and the Costa del Sol into a point of reference for art and design, launching MARBELLA DESIGN”.
MANUEL DÍAZ CEBRIAN (Artistic Director). Born in Mexico, he lived Rome and New York before settling in London. In his career as curator he collaborated with major institutions like the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Royal Academy of Arts, and The Fashion and Textile Museum in London. He created and curated Pinta Design during four years, and more recently Crossroads Design.
ALEJANDRO ZAIA (Director) is an entrepreneur and the founder of important art fairs such as PINTA London and PINTA New York, specialized in Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese art, as well as ART MARBELLA and CROSSROADS. Zaia is the director of the MUNDUS NOVUS collection, dedicated to Ibero American contemporary art. He was a member of the international board of MOLAA, Museum of Latin American Art de Los Angeles, and the ART Museum for Private Collectors of the Americas. His work and commitment to culture has been recognized by Observatorio D’Achtall in Spain with its 2015 prize for the promotion of culture.
SEBASTIÁN VALDEZ (Partner) is an entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in banking, private equity and finance in companies in Latin America, USA and Europe. He is a founding partner and CFO of Mundus Novus, the Ibero American contemporary art collection, and a partner at ART MARBELLA and CROSSROADS.
